Goats that were born here on the farm this year.

The goats are just being born.  Cord and placenta are still attached.  She had two with one push and two more with another.

The kids are starting to get up and move around.  It is essential that goats nurse and get colostrum for the first 72 hrs preferably but at least the first 24hrs.  Without it they may not survive.

Mom recognizes her babies because they have her smell from the fluids.

She lick them off and gets them cleaned up and ready to be on their own.

The kids get up and start looking to nurse very quickly after the birth.

It was cold so we put on jackets to keep the babies warm.  If the babies get chilled they can develop pneumoia.
